Give your mind a break

Guided visual imagery when you just want to be free of your thinking

In this day and age life can be difficult. We live busy lives, working, taking care of family and friends, that we then forget to take care of ourselves.

We are unable at times to “just switch off”.  Before we go to sleep, we look at our phones, and then wonder why we have had a bad night’s sleep or feel tired the next day.

Throughout the day we may be thinking constantly about work, or worrying about family, or maybe you just keep having the same negative thoughts, that you just can’t seem to shake off? Why do we put ourselves through this?.  Do we really like feeling this way?.  Do we thrive on our minds being on overdrive?  Eventually, we crash and burn, but even then, we carry on with over thinking, we need to give ourselves a mind break.

As the Beatles sang, "switch off your mind", "relax and float downstream".  Did you visualise the words as you read them?.  How did you feel? That’s all we need to do, input some guided visual imagery to work on our five senses to have a mind break. By doing this, our mind, body and emotions will become calm.

If we can learn to practice guided visual imagery for ourselves, not only we as people will benefit from it, but the whole world would too.  As we start to shift our thought processes, we will start to give out positivity, changing the atmosphere around you.

Wouldn’t that be an achievement?!

If you didn’t visualise the words to the song, ask yourself why.  Maybe your mind was just too busy.  Keep trying!
